How to Repair a Door Lock on a Honda Accord

Having a working door lock provides great peace of mind as well as easy access to your Honda Accord. Without one, anyone has access to your car which is undesirable for obvious reasons. If your lock stops working, the safest way to fix it is to replace the entire mechanism. Replacement locks can be bought from most garages and auto stores.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement lock
  • Pliers
  • Screwdriver
  • Wrench
  • Remove the screws from the door panel and then lift the panel away from the vehicle.

  • Remove the mounting screws from the door handle and, using pliers, take away the plastic holding chip.

  • Remove the two safety bolts from the lock, using a wrench.

  • Remove the lock core's rod.

  • Install the new lock in the same position and remove the snap ring to release the core.

  • Replace the lock core's rod, the safety bolts, the plastic holding chip and the mounting screws before reattaching the door panel.

  • Test that the door now locks and unlocks correctly.
