  • Lay down a towel over the entire windshield to protect it in case the trim removal tool scratches the glass. Slide the trim removal tool into the windshield molding beginning at any corner of the windshield.

  • Move it sideways until reaching the first clip holding the trim in place. Hook the clip with the trim tool and carefully pull the tool away from the clip toward the center of the windshield until a pop is heard and the clip is released. Continue along in the same manner for the entire windshield until all of the clips have been removed.

  • Pull up on the first corner of the trim piece to begin removing it by hand. Pry up each corner and move to the inside of the windshield to pull up the rest. Remove the trim from the windshield and inspect it to determine whether it can be reused.

  • Lay the new piece of trim over top of the of the windshield covering the gap where the old one was removed from. Push it gently down into place by hand. Run the trim removal tool over the the molding to push it down into the opening. Lock it in to place with the clips.

  • Inspect the entire windshield to make sure everything has been secure and the molding is properly locked in. Remove the towel from the windshield upon completion.
