The fan shroud on a 1966 Ford Mustang is used to help deflect air flow to the engine to help keep the engine running cool. The radiator already has holes to which the shroud should mount. Mounting the shroud will only take a few minutes as the coolant fan needs to be removed for more room to work. Once the fan is removed, the shroud will mount in place.
Ensure the car is parked on a flat and level surface. Open the hood for access to the engine compartment.
Unscrew the fan from the fan clutch with a socket wrench. Four screws hold the fan in place. Pull the fan out of the engine compartment, and place it to the side.
Place the shroud into the engine compartment. The shroud has four bolt holes that match up to the radiator. Match the shroud to the radiator, and start the bolts by hand to secure it in place. Ensure the back end of the shroud is flush with the radiator.
Tighten all four screws with a socket wrench. Tug on the shroud to ensure it is tightly installed.
Screw the fan blades back onto the fan clutch with a socket wrench. The fan will go on only one way.
Start the car, and allow it to idle. Inspect the fan shroud for any scrubbing by the fan blades. Turn the car off, and adjust the fan shroud by loosening it and lowering or raising it. Tighten the shroud to secure it once it is in position.
