How do I Remove a Chrysler 300M Center Console Cover?

Sometimes you might find it necessary to remove the center console cover on your Chrysler 300M. It could be that you have dropped something valuable down inside making it necessary to retrieve it. Be prepared to spend about an hour or two on this project. Removing the console can be accomplished with a few tools purchased from any hardware store and plenty of patience.

Things You'll Need

  • Adjustable-end wrench
  • Screwdriver set
  • Trim stick
  • 8-mm socket with ratchet
  • Park the car on a level and comfortable workspace, and engage the emergency brake.

  • Put the car in "Neutral," and turn it off.

  • Pop up the hood of the vehicle, and remove the negative ("-") battery cable using the adjustable-end wrench.

  • Remove the mat inside the cubby bin. You will find it located at the front of the floor console. Raise the lid of the rear bin of the console, and remove the mat.

  • Remove the two screws from the front of the console. This is the connection of the shifter bezel and console.

  • Snap apart the console bezel from the console using the trim stick. Take off the shifter bezel that encircles the gear-shift lever.

  • Remove the bolts from the rear bin with the 8-mm socket with ratchet . These are the bolts that secure the console to the floor transmission tunnel.

  • Remove the screws that attach the front of the console to the instrument panel.

  • Slide the console back to the point where you can access and disconnect the wire connector from the accessory junction. This is located under the console. If equipped, also disconnect the rear-seat heater connector located in the same area as the other connector.

  • Remove the console.
