How to Remove Automotive Push Pins

You will often encounter automotive push pins on auto carpets and doors. These are used to secure various parts of your car to make sure that these do not get damaged. With its tight grip on the material, it can be quite difficult to remove automotive push pins. While it easy to call someone to do the removal of the pins for you, it can also be a good experience to learn the process yourself. Removing the pins requires a specific tool for you to easily take them out.

Things You'll Need

  • Dry rag
  • Angle dike
  • Wipe the top part of the push pin with a dry cloth to remove any dirt or dust around it.

  • Insert the tip of the angle dike underneath the automotive push pin, exerting enough effort to place at least half of the tip under the pin.

  • Close the angle dike slightly by squeezing its handles until you get a good grip of the push pin from underneath it. Do not squeeze the angle dike while inserting it underneath the automotive push pin to prevent tearing or cutting the upholstery, carpet or whatever surface you are working on.

  • Pry down the angle dike to pop out the automotive push pin from the surface.
