How to Change the Rear Turn Signal Bulb on a Town & Country Minivan

A Chrysler Town and Country minivan is the flagship model of Chrysler Motors. The Chrysler version originated in 1990 from the Dodge/Plymouth minivan platforms and shares many of the same components. It was intended to be the luxury version of the standard minivan. Maintenance was the same for each model across the board, and although much has changed in the design of these vehicles, the procedure for changing a rear turn signal bulb hasn't changed.

Things You'll Need

  • Star bit screwdriver
  • 3057 bulb
  • Open the back door of your Town and Country minivan.

  • Remove either the plastic pop rivets or the star (Torx) screws that hold the rear light cover assembly in place. The plastic pop rivets can be pried up and out with something thin and flat. A coin works as good as a flat-blade screwdriver in this instance. Star screws must be removed with a star bit screwdriver.

  • Pull the rear light assembly gently out and away from the rear of the vehicle. There will be an attached plastic tongue that holds the assembly against the body, and it must be cautiously maneuvered from its guide hole to avoid breakage.

  • Twist the bulb holders a half turn to the left to free the bulb that will be replaced. Once turned, two tabs will unlock at this point, and the bulb and socket will pull straight out. On later models, squeeze two tabs that hold the socket in and pull it out.

  • Grasp the bulb firmly and pull it straight out of the socket. It will be held in by spring clips, so it will pull right out.

  • Push a new 3057 bulb in place firmly, and it will "click" when it seats properly. Replace the socket back in the assembly, and then replace the assembly in the vehicle by reversing the steps you used to take it out.
