How to Add Transmission Fluid to My 2001 Honda Odyssey

Vehicle maintenance helps increase a vehicle's life span and its mileage. It also can help keep the vehicle price competitive for resale. You can save money if you know how to perform vehicle maintenance instead of outsourcing the job to a mechanic. Adding transmission fluid to your Honda Odyssey 2001 when necessary is one step in vehicle maintenance.

  • Park your Honda Odyssey 2001 on a level surface.

  • Open the hood of your vehicle. Locate the reservoir where transmission fluid is added. The reservoir is located in the front of the vehicle, on the left side of the engine. Remove the red dipstick that is labeled transmission fluid from the opening of the reservoir. Put the dipstick in a clean area to avoid getting dirt in your transmission and the fluid reservoir.

  • Place the end of the funnel into the opening of the reservoir. Pour transmission fluid into the funnel until the reservoir is full. Periodically check the fluid levels with the dipstick, cleaning the dipstick before each use.

  • Place the dipstick back into the opening of the reservoir. Close the hood of your vehicle.
