How to Replace a 1999 Chevy Tahoe Headlight Assembly

The 1999 Chevy Tahoe has a sealed headlight assembly that must be completely replaced when a bulb burns out. Although it is unfortunate that one cannot simply replace the bulb, replacing the entire headlight assembly is not as difficult as it may sound. The headlight assembly can be purchased from a local Chevy dealership or at most auto-part stores.

Things You'll Need

  • Gloves
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Tahoe headlight unit
  • Put on the gloves and turn off the vehicle.

  • Use the screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the headlight assembly in place. There is a screw in each corner of the headlight assembly. Make sure to keep the screws in a safe place. Disconnect the wiring connections by pressing on the tabs and pulling the connection.

  • Pull the headlight assembly out from the front of the vehicle. Place it in a safe location. Connect the wiring connections to the new headlight assembly. The connections should click into place. Push the new headlight assembly into the front of the vehicle.

  • Reattach the screws to secure the headlight assembly into place.

  • Test the headlights. If they are malfunctioning, check to see if they are securely connected.
