How to Replace a Honda Engine Air Filter

The air filter on most Honda cars, trucks and SUVs is located on the top-right or top-left side of the engine inside a plastic air intake box. The box will be secured by either metal screws or plastic locking tabs. The air filter rests inside the box. You will need to buy the replacement air filter specific to your Honda model; the cost of the air filter will vary between Honda models.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Replacement air filter
  • Open the Honda's hood and support it using the metal bar connected to the frame of the engine compartment. Unlock the plastic tabs on the air box or remove the screws using the screwdriver.

  • Remove the top of the air intake box and set the top aside. Pull the air filter out of the air intake box and set it aside.

  • Place the new air filter into the air intake box and make sure that the edges of the air filter are flush with the edges of the air intake box. Replace the top to the air intake box.

  • Replace and tighten the securing screws to the air intake box or connect to plastic locking tabs to secure the top to the air intake box. Close the Honda's hood.
