All Dodge engines are built differently, but the dipstick is commonly in the same place on Dodge engines. The dipstick runs through a tube on the top of the engine into the oil pan on the bottom of the engine. If the handle is broken and you can't get the dipstick out of the tube, than you will need to drain the engine oil from the oil pan and remove the oil pan from the bottom of the engine. Depending on the model of Dodge that you will be working on, the exhaust and other engine components may need to be removed to get to the oil pan retaining bolts on the edge of the oil pan.
Raise the Dodge using the floor jack and rest the right and left side of the Dodge on a pair of jack stands. Slide under the engine and position the drain pan under the drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan.
Remove the drain plug from the Dodge's oil pan using the ratchet set and allow the engine oil to drain into the drain pan. Replace the drain plug to the bottom of the Dodge's oil pan.
Remove the retaining bolts from around the edge of the oil pan using the ratchet set. Pull the oil pan off the bottom of the engine. Look on the inside of where the oil pan was and locate the oil dipstck.
Grab the end of the oil dipstick with the needle noise pliers and pull the dipstick out of the tube.
Replace the oil pan to the bottom of the engine. Replace the bolts to the edge of the oil pan and torque the bolts according to the torque specifications for that specific Dodge model using the torque wrench.
