The 2002 Buick Park Avenue has a cabin air filter--also known as a passenger compartment air filter--to remove pollen, dust and other contaminants from the air. The cabin air filter needs replacement every 30,000 miles, or sooner if you drive primarily in dusty conditions. Park Avenue car owners do not need to have their car serviced when it is time to replace the cabin air filter, though; they can do it themselves.
Turn off the Park Avenue's engine, engage the parking brake and open the driver's door.
Look under the dashboard and above the gas pedal for an access door to the cabin air filter.
Pull off the access door to reveal the air filters. The 2002 Buick Park Avenue has three air filters placed side by side. They are all the same size.
Remove each filter by pulling the tape off the retaining tabs, then pulling on the tabs. The filters will slide out of the compartment.
Slide the new filters into the empty slots and replace the access door.
