How to Replace a Headlamp on a Infiniti G35

Occasionally, you will need to replace the headlamp on the Infiniti G35 due to a cracked or damaged lamp, to do body work to the vehicle or to replace the stock headlamp with a high intensity or custom headlamp. Replacing the headlamp requires detaching the front bumper, but the replacement can be done in about an hour or two. You can replace the headlamp yourself, saving you the time and expense of having someone else do the work for you.

Things You'll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Metric socket set
  • Locate the black plastic rivets on the radiator support of the Infiniti G35 that are holding the grill and bumper in place. There should be 7 rivets.

  • Detach each of the plastic rivets with a flathead screwdriver until the grill and bumper are loose.

  • Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, in order to access the front driver's side fenderwell and remove the 3 plastic rivets with a flathead screwdriver that are holding the cover in place.

  • Remove the fender cover from the fenderwell and locate the 10mm bolts behind the fender cover that are holding the bumper in place.

  • Detach the bolts that are holding the bumper to the fender with a socket wrench and put the bolts in a safe place.

  • Locate the headlamp plug inside the fenderwell and detach the plug from the driver's side headlamp.

  • Pull the bumper forward and locate the four bolts that are holding the headlamp in place.

  • Remove the bolts that are holding the headlamp in place with a socket wrench and pull the headlamp away from the vehicle, unhooking the electrical harness from the back of the headlamp.

  • Attach the electrical harness to the back of the new headlamp and secure the headlamp to the vehicle frame with the bolts.

  • Place the bumper back into position and reattach the headlamp plug from behind the fenderwell.

  • Reattach the bolts in the fenderwell that are holding the bumper to the fender.

  • Secure the fender cover of the Infiniti G35 to the fender with the plastic rivets and then attach the grill and bumper to the radiator support with the remaining plastic rivets.
