A 2007 Chevy Avalanche: How to Reset the Oil Light

Even the base LS package on the 2007 Chevy Avalanche includes an oil-life system. The higher-end packages, such as the LTZ, often include a driver information center as well. Resetting the oil light is a little bit different between the basic Avalanche and the model equipped with the information center. Look for a control panel on your dash (four buttons); if you have one, your Avalanche has the information center. If it doesn't, you'll use the standard method to reset your oil light after an oil change.

Models Without the Driver Information Center

  • Start your engine, or turn the key to "Acc" or "On."

  • Press the odometer-cycle stem to browse through the menu. As you press it, the odometer display will show various settings and information, such as "Engine Hours" or "Language." Stop pressing the stem when the odometer shows "Oil Life Remaining."

  • Press and hold the odometer-cycle stem for six to 10 seconds, until you see the percentage change to "100." When this happens, the monitor is reset.

Models With the Driver Information Center

  • Start your engine, or turn your key to "Acc" or "On."

  • Press the "i" button on your driver information center control panel, until "Oil Life Remaining" shows on the display.

  • Press and hold the "Check-mark" button for six to 10 seconds to reset the system.
