How to Program Dodge Transponder Keys

To program a Dodge keyless remote, you must already have an existing programmed remote--otherwise the programming won't work. The instructions for programming such keys is identical across many of Dodge's models. Therefore, try the most common set of instructions first.

  • Start with the most common instructions for programming a Dodge transponder key (keyless remote) by pressing the lock button five times at two-second intervals.

  • Insert the key into the ignition cylinder and turn it to "Run;" in other words, as far as it will go without turning on the ignition.

  • Wait for the ignition chimes to stop.

  • Press the "Unlock" button on the working remote (the one that's already programmed) for four to 10 seconds.

  • While still holding the "Unlock" button down, press the "Panic" button for one second and release both buttons together. To do this and meet the requirements in Step 4, you have to be press the "Unlock" button in the four- to 10-second range. The car will chime to confirm that you've entered the programming mode. Complete the following step within 30 seconds of that chime.

  • Press and release the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons simultaneously. Then, press and release just the "Unlock" button. The chime will sound again, confirming that you performed the procedure correctly.

  • Repeat Step 6 with each remote.

  • Remove the key from the ignition.
