Homemade Defroster

When winter hits, not everyone is lucky enough to have shelter for their vehicles. Winter becomes a time when you may spend a good amount of time cleaning snow from your car or in icy conditions, trying to melt the ice from your windows. Ice removers can be expensive and luckily are an unnecessary expense. With a few inexpensive items usually found in your home or available at home stores, you can make your own liquid defroster.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Spray bottle
  • Fill the spray bottle with the rubbing alcohol, available from home and drug stores.

  • Add 2 to 3 drops of dishwashing liquid to the rubbing alcohol in the spray bottle.

  • Replace the spray bottle top, making sure it is secure. Shake the bottle gently to mix the rubbing alcohol and dishwashing liquid.

  • Spray the mixture onto the windows of your vehicle. The ice will begin to clear from the windows within 5 minutes.
