How to Change the Tail Light on a Nissan Maxima

The tail lights on your Nissan Maxima are going to burn out on you once or twice a year. When this happens you will need to change the tail light as soon as you know of the problem. A Nissan Maxima is not safe to drive on the road without properly working tail lights, and it is against the law to drive any motor vehicle on the road without the tail lights working.

  • Park the Nissan Maxima in a well-lighted area and open the trunk. Locate the plastic paneling on the right and left side of the truck behind the tail lights.

  • Twist the plastic securing tab holding the paneling to the frame of the trunk. Pull the paneling away from the truck frame exposing the tail light housing.

  • Pull the tail light housing away from the trunk frame, exposing the tail light. Pull the light bulb out of the light fixture.

  • Insert the new light bulb into the light fixture. Turn the Nissan Maxima on and pump the brakes to make sure that the new light bulb is working properly.

  • Place the tail light housing back to the frame. Place the paneling back onto the trunk frame and secure the plastic securing tab back into its place.
