How to Install Hyundai Fog Lights

The fog lights on your Hyundai may need to be replaced every year because fog lights burn out over time with regular use. The part number for the replacement fog light is stamped on the base of the old fog light. Replacement fog lights can be purchased from most auto parts stores or directly from Hyundai. Once you have the new light, you'll need to know how to install it. Installation should take no longer than 10 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Open the hood and remove the screws on the back of the fog light housing.

  • Pull the fog light housing forward from the front of the vehicle.

  • Remove the electrical connector from the back of the fog light ballast.

  • Remove the bail wire holding the fog light in place.

  • Remove the fog light by pulling it straight out. On some Hyundai vehicles, you will need to push in on the fog light and turn it counterclockwise and then pull it out of the housing.

  • Align the tabs on the replacement fog light with the notches cut into the housing on the Hyundai's fog light assembly.

  • Insert the fog light and, if necessary, turn the fog light clockwise to lock it into the housing. Replace the bail wire to hold the fog light securely in place.

  • Slide the fog light assembly back in toward the frame of the vehicle and thread and tighten the retaining screws.
