How to Remove the Windshield Wiper Arms on a Jeep Cherokee

The windshield wiper arms on a Jeep Cherokee need to be checked every six months to a year. The wiper blade and arm assembly are easily damaged by ice, so if you live in northern climates, you should check them during the summer. If your arm is broken, bent or damaged in some other way, you'll need a new arm assembly, which can be purchased from most auto parts stores. The Jeep Cherokee uses a special star-shaped Torx head bit to secure the wiper blades to the wiper motor.

Things You'll Need

  • Torx bit socket
  • Socket wrench
  • Pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until the hinge on the wiper arm locks.

  • Insert the hex head socket over the top of the wiper arm pivot assembly at the base of the wiper arm.

  • Turn the socket counterclockwise with a socket wrench to remove the bolt holding the wiper arm in place.

  • Pull the wiper arm off of the Jeep Cherokee.
