Jeep vehicles use fuses to protect their electrical circuits. If too much current is drawn through one of the circuits on your Jeep, the metal bridge inside the fuse is designed to melt before the wiring is damaged. Automotive fuses are rated for the amount of amps they can handle before melting; always replace a blown fuse with another of the same amp rating. Replacing a radio fuse is well within the abilities of the home mechanic. The hardest part is finding the radio fuse within the fuse box.
Locate the fuse panel inside your Jeep. It will be on the firewall, underneath the dashboard on the driver's side.
Remove the fuse panel cover, if equipped.
Find the radio fuse. On newer Jeeps there will be a diagram of fuses on the panel cover. On older models look at the labels printed above each fuse on the panel, or refer to your owner's manual.
Detach the radio fuse. Use the needle-nose pliers to remove a newer blade-type fuse, or a small screwdriver to remove an older glass-barrel fuse. If the fuse is blown, you'll be able to see that the metal bridge spanning the two terminals is melted or blackened.
Replace the radio fuse with a new one of the same amp rating/color.
Reinstall the fuse panel cover, if equipped.
Turn on the radio and check for proper operation.
