How to Add Coolant to a Pontiac Aztec

The Aztek was a sport utility vehicle (SUV) manufactured by General Motors and sold under their Pontiac brand from 2001 to 2006. Adding engine coolant to the Aztek is easily done at home without needing special tools. The process for adding engine coolant is the same no matter what year model your Aztek is.

Things You'll Need

  • 50/50 formula of Dex-Cool engine coolant
  • Funnel
  • Allow your vehicle to completely cool before adding coolant (about 30 minutes to an hour). Coolant level is best measured with the engine cooled; reservoir levels will fluctuate with the engine running.

  • Locate the reservoir tank on the driver's side of the engine bay. Check the level of coolant by looking at the indicator. If the coolant level is below the "F" mark, it's time to add coolant.

  • Remove the cap on the coolant reservoir and use the funnel to add engine coolant. Add the coolant a little at a time; don't overfill the reservoir. After each addition interval, wait a few seconds to check the level. Fill the reservoir as close to the "F" mark as possible. Replace the cap when finished.
