The Chevrolet Silverado windshield washing system is critical to safe driving, especially in winter months where salt and grime build up on the roadways. To ensure proper working order of the windshield washing system in your Chevy Silverado, you can replace the tubing that supplies the fluid from your reservoir tank to the windshield. The steps below refer to later model (1994-2005) Silverado trucks.
Buy the proper replacement tubing for your Silverado. Be sure to buy tubing or tubing/valve assemblies specifically made for your Silverado truck.
Locate the Chevy Silverado's windshield washer reservoir tank, which is on the driver's side next to the battery.
Identify the tubing connections. You'll see a connection from the reservoir holding the washer fluid and another connection to the windshield.
Disconnect the tubing at the windshield side first and drain the leftover fluid from the reservoir into another container. The old fluid can get contaminated from chunks of old tubing.
Unhook the bottom end of the tubing connected to the reservoir. Rinse the reservoir with warm water if it's especially dirty.
Connect the new tubing to the washer reservoir, then the windshield outlets.
Fill the reservoir with fresh washer fluid and test the wipers. You might notice that it takes a few minutes to prime the new tubing before you see washer fluid coming out onto the windshield.
