Driving your Hyundai Sonata with a broken signal light increases your chance of having an accident on the road, especially one that's your fault. Fortunately, replacing one of your Sonata's signal lights is quick and easy, as long as you have the correct replacement bulb in hand.
Shut off your Sonata's engine and turn the headlamp switch to "OFF." Open the hood using the primary and auxiliary hood release latches.
Detach the headlamp assembly mounting bolts using a socket wrench. Place the bolts in your pocket or a small bag for safekeeping.
Disconnect the electrical wiring from the back of the headlamp assembly. Set the wires to the side on a cool surface.
Remove the plastic bulb cover by turning it counterclockwise.
Twist the old bulb counterclockwise and pull it away from the bulb socket. Dispose of it immediately to prevent it from becoming a hazard.
Screw the new bulb into place and replace the plastic bulb cover. Then, reconnect the wiring to the back of the headlamp assembly.
Test the new bulb to make sure it works before replacing the assembly bolts and closing the hood.
