How to Locate the ABS Relay on a 2000 Nissan Frontier

Nissan offered their 2000 Frontier models in the XE base model, Desert Runner XE-V6, XE-V6 and Desert Runner SE-V6 trim and engine packages. The base XE came equipped with a 2.4-liter, in-line, four-cylinder engine capable of producing 143 horsepower and 154 foot-pounds of torque. All other 2000 Frontier models came with a V-6 engine capable of producing 170 horsepower and 200 foot-pounds of torque. Anti-lock brakes were installed on all 2000 Frontier models as part of the standard safety package.

  • Park the truck on firm, level ground. Set the emergency brake, and open the hood. Locate the fuse and fusible link box on the passenger side of the engine compartment, above the wheel well. Disengage the fuse box cover from the retainer catches, and remove it from the box. Find the fuse map on the cover.

  • Pull and inspect the 20-amp fuse in the No. 10 slot, the 10-amp fuse in the No. 11 slot, and the 10-amp fuse in the No. 22 slot. Check the filament within the fuses and replace the fuses if the elements are not intact.

  • Inspect the blades of the fuse for signs of corrosion or arcing that could indicate a problem with the fuse socket within the fuse block itself. Repair or replace the fuse block as necessary.

  • Install the fuse box cover, and ensure that it engages securely with the retainer catches. Close the hood, release the brake, and test the vehicle.
