Toyota Corolla Brake Light Problems

Your brake lights warn others of your intent to stop. If the brake lights stop working in your Toyota Corolla, you should not drive the vehicle on public roadways and immediately address the issue to keep your Toyota safe.

Fuse Box

  • The fuse box prevents power surges from destroying your electrical equipment. If your lighting system experiences an amperage spike, the fuse for the lights in your Corolla will blow. The fuse panel is located under the dashboard of the vehicle.

Bulbs

  • Age and regular use wear down the filament in your Corolla's brake light bulb. You should replace the bulb in your brake light as the first step to troubleshooting the lighting system. Bulbs are found in most auto parts stores.

Wiring Harness

  • If the wiring harness connector that leads to the brake light is pinched, cut or damaged in any way, your brake light will not turn on. Check the connection at the back of the brake light bulb, and trace the wire backward to check for damage.
