GMC C4500 Battery Instructions

The GMC C4500 is adored by its owners for its Duramax engine and extended cab features, but without a working battery, it cannot serve very much of a purpose. Installing a battery in your GMC C4500 does not require a costly visit to your dealership, but it does require the ability to lift up to 60 pounds, the weight of the battery. With the right instruction, you can install a new battery in your C4500 in about five minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Open your C4500's hood by pulling the hood release lever to the left of the driver's side seat.

  • Set the battery carefully into the engine's battery compartment. Make sure that the battery's positive (+) terminal is on the red (+) cable's side, and the negative (-) is on the black (-) side.

  • Place the red positive cable over the positive battery terminal. Tighten the nut securely with the socket wrench. Repeat for the black negative cable. Make sure that the nuts are fully tightened to ensure that proper battery power is being provided to your equipment. Your GMC C4500 battery is now ready to get you on the road again.
