How to Tell If a Honda Accord Has Keyless Entry

To use the keyless entry system for your Honda Accord, you must program the keyless remote. You can program the remote yourself without the need for any additional equipment. By going through this process, you can discover whether the Accord has a remote entry system already installed. The Accord will cycle through the locking system by locking then unlocking the car doors. This can happen only if you have a remote entry system installed.

Things You'll Need

  • Keyless remote
  • Accord key
  • Turn the car on using the key, but do not start the engine. Put the key in the ignition "On" position. Each of the following steps must be completed within four seconds of the previous step.

  • Click either the "Lock" or the "Unlock" button on your Accord keyless remote.

  • Turn the key back to the "Off" position. This is the position that lets you remove the key from the car.

  • Turn the key to "On" again, click the "Unlock" or "Lock" button on your remote, and then turn the key back to "Off." This is the second time you perform this task.

  • Turn the key to "On" again, press the "Unlock" or "Lock" button on your remote, and then click the key back "Off." This is the third time for this process.

  • Turn the car ignition back to the "On" position and click the "Unlock" or "Lock" button one final time. At the end of this step, you will see the car doors lock and unlock automatically to signal that you are in programming mode and thus have a keyless entry system. If this does not happen, there is no keyless entry system.
