How to Remove the Power Seats in a Porsche Boxster

The Porsche Boxster is stylish, two-seat convertible sports car. There are various reasons why you may need to remove the seats from your Boxster. Maybe you are installing new seats and need to remove the old ones, or maybe you are having your existing seats reupholstered. Removing your seats also makes it easier to thoroughly clean your interior. Whatever the reason, removing power Boxster seats is not that difficult.

Things You'll Need

  • 6-point socket set and ratchet
  • Screwdriver
  • Raise the seats to the highest position with the power seat buttons. Slide the seats as far forward as they will go.

  • Remove the rear bolts that hold the seat to the floorboards on each side of the seats with a 6-sided, 10-mm socket. Set the bolts aside.

  • Slide the seat as far back as it will go to gain access to the front bolts. Pry up the tab on the plastic trim pieces that conceal the bolts and set the trim pieces aside.

  • Remove the front bolts with the 10-mm, 6-sided socket. Tilt the seat toward the opposite seat so that you can disconnect the wires underneath the seat.

  • Disconnect the large black wiring connector attached to the seat by pulling on the plastic extension that comes out of the front of it.

  • Remove the side of the connector by carefully prying it off to gain access to the seat belt wire, which passes through the seat. Disconnect the seat belt wire and then unclip the wire where it fastens to the seat.

  • Remove the seat from the interior, taking care not to scratch the door sills or anything else as you remove the seat. Make a note of where and how the wires were connected to the seat. Repeat for the other seat. Installation is the reverse of removal.
