How to Improve Wind Noise in a Convertible

Riding in a convertible can be noisy when the soft top is up. This is caused by the wind moving into the top of the car. Driving on highways at high speeds makes the noise even louder, and can be too intense for some. To decrease the wind noise of a convertible, add a seal to stop the excess wind.

Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • Scissors
  • Weather strip
  • Waterproof glue
  • Measure the top of your convertible. Write down the measurements for the length and width of the windshield.

  • Cut weather stripping into the exact dimensions of the windshield that you measured.

  • Glue the weather stripping to the top of the windshield. Use a waterproof glue. The edges should be lined up, perfectly.

  • Put the soft top of your convertible up, and check that it will be able to latch with the weather stripping that is present. Allow for at least two hours to dry.
