What to Check for Car Inspections

It is imperative that your car is working properly to ensure safe driving. Car inspections help to identify potential hazards before you hit the road.

Exterior

  • When inspecting the exterior of the car, check to that the headlights, brake lights and turning signals are working properly. Check the tires to ensure they are not flat or damaged. Also look for any unfamiliar dents or scratches to the car. Look under the car to check for any fluid leaks.

Fluid Levels

  • Checking fluid levels is part of maintaing the car operating smoothly. The following fluids should be checked during a car inspection: oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, antifreeze and windshield wiper fluid.

Time Frame

  • Exterior inspections should be done to the car daily before you drive. Your fluid levels should be checked once a month, and you should have an annual car inspection of the entire car, including the engine and transmission.
