Your car's vehicle identification number (VIN) is a treasure trove of information. Its alpha-numerical code can tell you what year your Ford product was built as well as what plant the car was produced in, what body style it is, what original equipment came with the car, and more. The unique serial number can also provide you with information related to recalls. Ford issues recalls of its vehicles whenever a safety or emissions-related concern arises. To check your car's VIN to see if it is part of a recall, all you need to do is access Ford's recall website.
Locate your Ford's vehicle identification number on the driver-side door jamb or on the metal sticker at the bottom of your Ford's windshield on the driver's side.
Write the vehicle identification number on a piece of paper.
Open your computer's Internet browser.
Enter ford.com/owner-services/customer-support/recall-information in the URL box at the top of the browser.
Press the "Enter" or "Return" key on your computer's keyboard. The "Owner Services - Recall Information" website will open.
Click on the down arrow next to the wording "Choose a Vehicle Brand" to select "Ford," "Lincoln," "Mercury" or "Volvo."
Enter your car's vehicle identification number in the box labeled "Enter Your VIN."
Click "Find." The website will present a results page listing any recalls related to your vehicle.
Click "File," "Print," "OK" to print the results page, if desired.
