The cabin air filter on a vehicle traps dirt and air pollutants before air enters the passenger compartment. The filter should be changed every 15,000 miles, or more often under very dusty or dirty conditions. When the filter is not changed often enough, the passengers in the car may be breathing polluted air, and the heater or air conditioner can be damaged. Changing the filter is quick and easy.
Remove the cabin air filter panel, which is under the instrument panel on the front passenger side. Usually three to five screws hold it in place.
Remove the screw that secures the access door and then remove the door itself. The door is about two inches wide and secured in place with one screw.
Pull down the air filter(s), noting what direction they are facing (cabin air filters can be designed for installation in a certain direction). Check the new air filter, as it may be marked for installation direction.
Reverse procedure to install.
