Oil Capacity of the 1996 Honda Accord 2.2L Engine

The 2.2-liter, four-cylinder engine was the standard powerplant across the entire 1996 Honda Accord range, with the 2.7-liter V-6 as an optional engine in the LX and EX models. The 2.2-liter in the all trim levels except the EX used the same amount of engine oil; the EX model required slightly more.

Oil Capacity

  • The total oil capacity of the 1996 Honda Accord's 2.2-liter engine was 5.2 quarts in all trims except the EX. The Accord EX used a total of 5.9 quarts. During the typical oil and filter change, you will need a total of 4.5 quarts for the Accord EX and 4 quarts for all the other trim levels, as some oil remains in the engine after draining the oil. Honda recommends using 5W-30 engine oil in all temperatures, but you can opt for 10W-30 if the outside temperature does not go below 20 degrees F.
