Where to Add Transmission Fluid on a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 800

Locating the orifice into which you pour the transmission fluid for your Kawasaki Vulcan 800 is no more difficult than finding its oil filler cap. The transmission, like the engine and clutch, shares the responsibility for moving your Kawasaki Vulcan 800 from where you are to where you want to be. All three share the same oil in a mechanical manage a trois, so you only need to find the engine's oil filler cap.

Finding the Oil Filler Cap

  • If you move to the right side of your Vulcan 800 or Vulcan 800 Classic, you'll find the oil level gauge. The engine oil also acts as transmission fluid; the Vulcan 800 and 800 Classic don't use a separate transmission fluid. If oil is visible between the upper and lower lines on the gauge, your transmission fluid is okay. If not, remove the cap on the top of the right side of your engine and add oil to the engine until the oil level is between the upper and lower lines on the gauge.
Note that bike must be vertical -- not on it's kickstand -- to obtain an accurate sight reading.
