How to Buy Factory Wheel Lock Keys

Wheel locks are small devices similar to lugnuts that attach a wheel to an axle. Wheel locks can prevent wheel theft, by requiring a special key to remove them. Unfortunately, sometimes wheel lock keys get lost, making it impossible to rotate or replace our tires without a key.

  • Write down the 17-digit VIN from your vehicle. Your VIN can be found on your registration or on the upper part of the driver's side dashboard below the base of the windshield.

  • Record the tire size for your vehicle. The tire size can be found on the sidewall of a tire and usually consists of numbers such as: 235/50R/17. Write down the entire series of numbers.

  • Visit or call the local dealer that sells your brand of vehicle; preferably the one the vehicle was purchased from when new. Ask for the parts department and request a factory wheel lock key for your vehicle. The dealer can look up your VIN and tire size and determine which lock key to provide you with.
