After a few weekend trail outings with the family, you have the itch for some advanced four-wheel action, but that little voice in the back of your mind has you worried about safety. Now you're wondering: Should you beef up the factory rollbar in your Jeep? Should you install a custom rollcage? We'll tell you straight up: You bet!

Rollovers happen. A properly installed rollcage is the best safety feature you can add to any 4x4 and, combined with good seating and safety harnesses, offers great protection.

Numerous aftermarket cage kits are available that can be bolted or welded in. Each method offers different features for different levels of protection. There are no shortcuts when it comes to a good cage; it could save your life and the lives of your passengers.

Adding a rollcage is a great way to increase vehicle safety for you and the family, both on and off highway. Rollovers happen to the best of us, sometimes when we least expect them. A good rollcage prepares you for the worst. A cage will keep the weight of the vehicle off its occupants and increase survivability considerably. Many rigs, such as this Jeep Scrambler, are fitted with factory rollbars that offer limited protection. Building off a vehicle's existing rollbar with additional tubing greatly increases safety, and saves time and money.

When a cage is installed we highly recommend taking the extra steps to attach it to the frame of the rig. A vehicle is usually held to the frame by six to eight body mount bolts, and we have seen them sheared off. Attaching the cage to the frame greatly increases the structural integrity of the entire vehicle.
Bolt-in rollcages like the systems available from Rock Hard 4x4 can easily be installed in the garage without special tools. The cages are available for many Jeep applications.
