Mini recommends running a minimum of 91 octane, top-tier gasoline in all of their 2014 models, but octane level is only part of the equation.
Your Mini's engine is designed to run on fuel with a maximum of 10 percent ethanol. Anymore than 10 percent ethanol -- this includes E85 fuel -- can cause damage to your engine and fuel system. If you must use fuel containing 15 percent ethanol, you must use a fuel additive to counteract the effects of the ethanol. Mini also recommends avoiding other blended fuels such as those that contain methanol or alcohol.
