How to Get The Cheapest Gas Prices in My Area

Gas prices are continuing to rise again. If you are like me, you hate to fill up your tank and look at the final price. We all have to buy gas but you can save money by finding the cheapest gas prices in your area.

  • Search online for the cheapest gas prices. Many websites keep track of the cheapest gas prices. The cheapest gas prices in my area are usually at least .10 to .15 lower than the normal gas price.

  • Fill up your tank. Even if your tank is only half full, go ahead and fill up. If you wait until the last minute you will be forced to pay whatever price the nearest gas station is charging.

  • Stay away from busy places and freeways. Gas is always the highest in high traffic areas. Drive the extra 5 miles to get away from the traffic and you will be rewarded with the cheapest gas around.

  • Purchase gas in the middle of the week. Gas companies like to rise gas prices during the weekend and holidays. Avoid filling up your tank on these occasions. If you know that you will be traveling for the holidays, fill up a couple gas cans early and store them in your garage.

  • Use a credit card to pay for gas. Most gas companies offer their own credit card that can save you up to 5% on each gallon of gas. This is a great way to ensure that you get the cheapest gas around.
