Chevy Caprice 9C1 - Borla Exhaust Install - Hot Rod Magazine

Cop Car Exhaust Upgrade

If you’re a hardcore fan of Chevrolet police cars, then you know that this story’s subhead is not as wild as it may sound. The wicked black Impala SS of the mid-1990s borrowed heavily from the Caprice’s 9C1 police package. Conversely, a Caprice cop car is only a few mods away from being a black-and-white Impala SS, with its 260hp LT1, heavy-duty trailer-towing suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, and four-wheel disc brakes. Borla Performance Industries recently bought a 1996 Caprice from the Orange County (California) Sheriff’s department to show how a few modifications could turn a tired old patrol car into a mean street cruiser. Since Borla bought the car, the first mods used the company’s exhaust system components. By the way, if you’re into Blue Oval patrol cars instead, Borla also offers a a cat-back system for 1996-97 Crown Vics. Now all you have to do is come up with some snappy Dragnet dialogue--"Just the facts, M'am."
