You had us at supercharger – looks like the renowned US performance tuners at Edelbrock are tiptoeing back into the tuner space with a supercharger kit for the Scion FR-S’s 4U-GSE and Subaru BRZ’s FA20 2.0-liter flat-four power plants. The so-called "E-Force" forced-induction system is said to increase horsepower to 242 (up 77 over stock) and torque to 186 lb.-ft. (up 57 over stock), plus improve mid-range output. Nice.

Boost comes from an Eaton 1320 TVS roots-style blower, and the system also features an inverted design with long runners, efficient high-flow inlet, and dual-pass air-to-water intercooler. The supercharger assembly is finished in a black powder coating with red accents and fits under the stock hood. You can get it with either the EcuTek tuner or without, and since the system is designed to work with all factory emissions equipment, it happens to be 50-state legal.

We haven’t seen Edelbrock in the tuner space since it was making turbo kits for single-cam Honda Civics. Its supercharger setup is now shipping, and joins a marketplace that already includes entries from HKS, Vortech, and Jackson Racing, among others.
