We know everyone is a power-hungry fiend when it comes to their engine. The plethora of ways to gain more power can be daunting. One of the first steps any truck should have performed is the addition of an air intake. The idea is simple and effective: more air and lower inlet temperatures. Factory intakes have integrated baffles and paper filters that restrict airflow at the cost of power. When these systems are designed they are made to be super quiet from the factory to not scare grandma when she guns it.

AEM has been heavily involved in the import scene and has recently entered the truck market. Its new Brute Force line of truck intakes has the same philosophy of all AEM products: more power. The folks at AEM have done extensive testing to ensure positive power gains across the board. Its air intake kit comes with everything you need and nothing you don't. AEM designed a kit that is not only attractive but produces a power gain of 10.5 hp on the popular 5.4L Triton motor. In addition to a complement of products for the Blue Oval, AEM is churning out intake kits for a variety of trucks.

When we heard about the new product, we just had to get our hands on one. Installation took only an hour and gave a true seat-of-the-pants improvement. The fit and finish definitely improved the gleam of the engine compartment and added some growl to our test mule. Here's how the install went.
