Sometimes it's good to know you're not alone. We all drive trucks partly because they have these useful things called beds that move our stuff. For better or worse, that's not where the story ends. Just like the interior of a closet has to have some method of organization, so does a truck bed. Without organization, things get lost or crushed, time is wasted, and load efficiency goes to nil. The bottom line is that a privilege of truck ownership includes the awesome responsibility of creatively and personally managing the bed space.
One day, a bunch of pickup truck enthusiasts with experience in making stuff happen—who also struggled with the bed space management issue—got together and began creating the Decked truck deck and drawer storage system. Headquartered in Ketchum, Idaho, the crew at Decked has worked hard to design and manufacture a system that is innovative, well made, and potentially game-changing. After all, to quote the Decked team: "It takes a hell of a lot of gear to make it through the work week." In its 2014 SEMA Show debut, Decked received the best New Product Award in the Pickup/Van/Sport-Utility product category.
| Decked Drawer System Flat Deck Surface
The DECKED system is comprised of a flat deck surface (like a raised bed floor) atop two rolling drawers. The system weighs around 200 pounds and attaches to the truck via the OEM tie downs. Right now, applications include fullsize pickups (without 8-foot beds), but not midsize or mini trucks. The lockable, weatherproof drawers keep stuff securely out of the elements and also glide easily to open and closed positions, conveniently bringing your stuff straight to your fingertips. It's all about ease of access while on the job site. Allowing room for the drawers creates a raised deck above the space-hogging wheelwells that is 12 inches higher than the stock bed floor and about 22 inches wider for a nice, flat, usable surface. Further organization can be achieved by adjustable dividers and accessory trays.

This is the underside of the deck, which reveals a support lateral steel subframe melded to the deck that provides a deck load rating of 2,000 pounds and a stiff feel. From the topside of the 100- percent-recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic deck, dimples indicate where the steel tubes are located and are the mounting spots for other rack systems. The impact-resistant, weather- proof HDPE can handle UV light, moisture, and extreme heat or cold. The decks are precision-fit according to the specific fullsize truck application, but there is enough room for a previously installed spray-in bedliner.

Four tub-looking compartments adorn each corner of the Decked system. These "ammo cans" are structural but also provide additional storage. One side of the lid sits flush with the deck. Flip it over for beverage holders or additional storage for small things like nuts and bolts. These storage compartments are not waterproof but are definitely cool and useful.

The stainless steel edge guard doubles as a ruler and, if you look closely, you'll find a bottle opener right under where the guard says Decked. No one says the drawers can't double as massive coolers...

For added protection, one option is to put a truck cap over the Decked system to enclose the deck area. While the drawers are weatherproof, they do not seal like Tupperware and are not waterproof.

This is the system disassembled and minus the deck. Each drawer rolls on four sealed bearing wheels and can hold 200 pounds. They pull out (with the strength of one finger) 48 inches (not the entire length of the drawers) via oversized cast aluminum handles. Drawer measurements for a standard bed are 72.1 inches x 18.1 inches x 8.4 inches (LxWxH). Even if you opt to lock the drawers, add another layer of security by locking the tailgate.
