Extended Range - Titan Fuel Tank Install

The Big Three do a great job manufacturing trucks that are more than capable of handling whatever we throw at them, but fuel range seems to be a pitfall shared by each brand. While Ram, GM, and Ford offer torquey diesel engines, overbuilt chassis and suspension systems, and an overall package that can literally move mountains, we can still only get so far on a tank of fuel. Titan Fuel Tanks has been at the forefront of adding fuel capacity to diesel trucks for 10 years now, and it offers factory replacement tanks, in-bed tanks, utility tanks, and all the accessories that go along with them.
  |   Titan Fuel Tanks’ 60-gallon, in-bed auxiliary tank (P/N 5010060) is constructed of high-density, cross-linked polyethylene (XLHDPE). The material is a lightweight thermoplastic that will practically never break down or corrode. At just 51 pounds (empty), this tank is a fraction of the weight of a comparable steel tank yet still incorporates ¼-inch-thick walls. Our tank came from Summit Racing, which stocks Titan’s entire line of fuel tanks and accessories.
"With the addition of Titan’s in-bed fuel tank, our overall range nearly tripled, and like all of its products, we were able to install it in a few short hours."
This month, we got our hands on Titan’s new, 60-gallon polyethylene auxiliary tank for our ’02 Dodge Ram 3500. It’s a truck that spends its summers trekking all over Illinois and Missouri with a mud truck in tow, or dragging a toy hauler to remote locations. Needless to say, the second-gen Dodge’s 400- to 500-mile range wasn’t cutting it. With the addition of Titan’s in-bed fuel tank, our overall range nearly tripled, and like all of its products, we were able to install it in a few short hours. Whether you tow campers, horse trailers, boats, cars, construction equipment, or anything else long distance, an auxiliary tank should be on your to-do list.
