Ford 6.4L PureFlow AirDog II Lift Pump - Starving For Fuel

With all of the advancements in common-rail injection, aftermarket tuning can unleash a lot of hidden horsepower in your diesel. Perhaps the luckiest of the bunch are owners of '08 to '10 6.4L Power Strokes. We've seen people add more than 300 hp to their International V-8 with just an air intake, exhaust, and tuner. And while this makes for one heck of a truck on the street, strip, or pulling track, those wanting more performance need to know that upgrading the engine's factory fuel system is vital. In the 6.4L Power Stroke's case, the fuel rails are almost completely depleted under wide-open throttle when equipped with 310hp tuning. Another weak link is the factory Ford lift pump, which can barely supply enough fuel pressure to the injection pump at these power levels. In fact, fuel pressure supplied to the injection pump can drop to as low as 1 psi with aggressive tuning.   |   airDog II 165 Fuel System 2008 Ford F350 We recently ran into Ford guru Chad Flynn who wanted to take his '08 F-350 beyond the 585 hp it was making. But in order to keep plenty of fuel supply on hand, he needed an aftermarket fuel system. So PureFlow Technologies got the call and responded by sending one of its 165-gph AirDog II systems. In a few short hours, the latest fuel system on the market was installed on Chad's 6.4L Super Duty, and it now benefits from state-of-the-art air removal technology, better fuel filtration, and higher fuel pressure supply.
