Auto Insurance Claims: Uninsured motorist settlements in VA, cat scans, uninsured motorist

Question
Hello, a while back Myself, and my two babies were passengers in a car. A car full of young people were driving down the street and from out of nowhere the driver did a u-turn in the middle of the street striking us so hard that the car spined in a 360%. A court date was set and the man at fault never showed up, then that's when we learned that he not only had license, but his insurance lapsed 3 weeks before the accident. I was in PT for 3 months and my daughter and son went to the hospital and Dr.. visits and received cat scans. What exactly will be paid after everything is done. I do have a lawyer but I guess I'm not  understanding everything. Can you break it down how all of this will work under the Virginia uninsured motorist law. Thank you

Answer
Your coverage will act as they insured the guy who hit you.  Your attorney will try to negotiate a settlement for your damages, including medical expenses, pan, suffering, inconvenience, etc.

Your attorney should have explained this to you.  if you do not feel your attorney has done a good job of this, get a new one.
