Auto Insurance Claims: Adjuster Limits, personal injury claim, settlement funds

Question
I have filed my own 'demand letter' in a personal injury claim.  The adjuster has informed me that he has to obtain approval from his manager regarding the dollar amount of the settlement as he is asking for more money for my claim.  In general, what is the adjuster's dollar amount limit (his authority) before he would have to have additional approval for settlement funds on the claim?

Answer
Hi Cathy,

There is no way to know. Each company has its own guidelines regarding adjuster authority limits. It often is based on the experience level of the adjuster and how long they have been with that company. It may also be based on the type of injury, the amount demanded or if you are represented by an attorney or not.

I hope this helps
