Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Insurance Industry Data, insurance institute for highway safety, crash worthiness

Question
I'm looking to obtain information that reveals the driving behaviors that are of most concern to automotive insurance carriers currently.  For example, is there a major concern with drivers that drink coffee while they drive, texting and driving, etc.?

In addition, I'm also looking for any trends that show the percentages of payouts for insurance companies for various categories, such as stolen vehicles, auto accidents for teens, etc.

If you can provide the aforementioned data, or if you know of any resources that may provide the information or anything like it, please share!  Thanks in advance!

Answer
Hi Alvin,

There are several organizations that collect such data. At the moment the only one that I can think of is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. They test vehicles for crash worthiness, etc. Other than that you will just have to look for various insurance institutes and associations. Depending on your reason for seeking this information will determine how willing they may be to provide it to you.

Good luck
