Auto Insurance Claims: Waiving the Deductable, auto policy, insurance company

Question
A single vehicle traveling slowly on a snow covered road sliding off the road hitting a utility pole.  Is there anyway of getting the $500 deductible waived?

Answer
Hi Stephen,

Unfortunately, no. When you purchase an auto policy, you determine the deductible. The deductible is the amount that you have agreed to be self insured for. Meaning that you will pay the first $500.00 each and every time you have an incident. The premiums are based on the fact that the insurance company will not be paying the first $500.00 of any incident. So it is a contractual issue that the insurance company will not just waive.

I hope this helps
