Auto Insurance Claims: about insurance, rental car company, insurance claim

Question
I was involved in a minor wreck. The person that hit me was giving a ticket and it was her fault. We have been calling her insurance company, she wont be back in untill Monday, what I was needing to know is that does her insurance company have to give us money for my car not being drivable? i was told that they would have to rent us a car, but it has been 4 days and we have heard nothing.

Answer
Hi Lenna,

Yes. You should ask for a payment for loss of use for the days you had no car. Usually a loss of use payment will be $15.00 to $20.00 per day. Or you can go ahead and rent a car on your own and then submit the paid bill to the insurance company for reimbursement. If you do this, be sure to tell the rental car company that this is an insurance claim because they have special rates for insurance claims.

I hope this helps
