Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Injury Claim, auto injury, insurance agent

Question
I was in an accident about two years ago when I rear ended a car.  The occupant of the car I hit showed no evidence of injuries. I just received a call from my insurance company and they wanted to know if they could give the injured parties' lawyer the amount of my personal liability (which is $100,000).  I said yes. My insurance agent said that he had all the copies of the medical bills.  When I asked my insurance agent if I was going to be sued he said he wasn't sure but that he thought that the lawyer was getting ready to close the case.  My insurance agent said he was looking at the medical bills and they didn’t amount to much.  Should I be worried?

Answer
Hi Karen,

At this point there is no need to be worried. Your adjuster indicated to you that the medical bills were not very much, so it is very likely that the claim will settle for not too much more than the amount of those bills. It the injured parties attorney makes a demand for payment that is anywhere close to your $100,000.00 of coverage they would notify you in writing. At this point just let your adjuster handle everything. They will settle the claim for as little as possible.

I hope this helps
