Auto Insurance Claims: insurance claim, giving me a hard time, bad faith

Question
I am a truck driver and used to park my car outside the yard whenever i pick up my truck.

two months back,My car was stripped out while it was parked outside the yard.
all the wheels, seats, radio, everthing was stolen.

Once i was back from east coast, i reported progessive immediately and they send a auditor and he said it was totalled and it would take a week to process the payment.

after, few weeks they come back to me and say something seems suspicious and they are investigating.
Now its been more then two months, with no car and have a hard time going to work.
I can buy a new car, but want to clear the loan on my old car first.
I am still making the payments for my old car.

The insurance company is giving me a hard time.I have paid my progessive monthly installments on time.

what should i do. help me.

Answer
Hi,

Everything is suspicious to insurance companies these days. Its called delay, delay, delay.

Isn't it funny that their claims handling is not reflected in their commercials?

All you can do is wait. I would like to be more cheerful about it, but truthfully, you are at their mercy.

If they deny the claim, you can sue them for bad faith, but you cannot rush this. Its all up to them.

Based on my experience with this company, it is my opinion that they like to deny theft and vandalism claims. If they can point a finger at you having been involved some way (even though you were out of town) with the missing components.

With other companies as well, I have seen the insured blamed because he did not park in a garage and many other things they call suspicious.

As I say though, you have to wait for their disposition.

Good luck

Rob
